What is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist?

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are recognised allied health professionals that specialise in clinical exercise interventions to help people improve their health and treat a broad range of chronic diseases, injuries and health conditions. AEPs help those that may be at risk of developing, or have existing medical conditions or injuries through the use of exercise as medicine. AEPs aim to prevent acute or manage subacute and chronic diseases and injuries by restoring physical function, health and wellness through evidence-based individualised exercise programs with a lifestyle and behavioural modification focus.

Who can Accredited Exercise Physiologists assist?
An Exercise Physiologist can assist people with, but not limited to:

  • Diabetes & weight management
  • Short & long term injuries or disabilities (work, sporting & general)
  • Heart & lung conditions (eg: Emphysema, Angina, Coronary heart disease)
